Traditional food in Hrušov
2
● Bryndzové halušky ● Pufance ● Lepníky ● Pampúšiky ● Chlieb vo vajíčku
3
Pufance ''Pufance'' are made for at least 5 generations. They're so delicious, easy to make and you can make them in a short time. They look like pancakes, but they are made just by flour and potatoes and they are salted. They are usually baked on older types of stoves.
4
Preparation and ingredients Grandmothers, Anna Bendíková and Cecília Valachová, have helped us with the preparation. We needed: ● Potatoes ● Flour ● Salt ● Butter ● Garlic
5
At first we boil the whole potatoes in salted water for their softness. Then we peel them.
6
We mash the potatoes on a simple grinder. Then we add flour into the potatoes. We don't have to put any salt into it because we had boiled the potatoes in salted water.
7
We make the dough with hands and form it into the shape of a loaf. The dough shouldn't be too hard. If it's too soft just put some more flour into the dough.
8
We spread the created dough softly into the shape of a roll with our hands. The average size of the roll should be about 5 cm.
9
We cut the roll of dough into small pieces with the thickness about 2 cm. We need a longer knife, it can be edgeless.
10
We roll the individual pieces to thin slices into the shape of a circle. We must be careful that the dough wouldn't stick to the board. If it is sticky, just put some more flour on the board.
11
Put the spreaded dough - the ''pufanec'' – carefully onto the cooker (or to a dry non- greasy pan). Bake the ''pufanec'' on both sides and keep turning it carefully with a knife.
12
Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the crushed garlic. Grease the ''pufanec'' with that mixture.
13
Fold the ''pufanec'' to the shape of a triangle or a roll.
14
The food is finished and it's ready to serve. The ''pufanec'' can be sweet, too. The process is the same, they're just stuffed with plum jam, curd or poppy.
