Participants 98 people registered including Vendors 62 presentations 26 + posters Fermilab, CERN, DESY, KEK, SLAC represented Many synchrotron light sources Small medical accelerators
3
Fermilab Presentations Volk spoke on roll measurements + poster on HLS work Bocean NUMI and MINOS network O’Sheg electron cooling Wojcik Tev Net Ford summary talk on alignment work Ivanov spoke on Dynamic alignment in presence of ground motion
4
Laser scanners A sweeping laser system that can Digitize an entire area quickly Could scan the tunnel and then Generate a drawing with everything included
5
ILC Reports on alignment of ILC type superconducting cavities Stretched wire work Precision motion stages 4mm range nanometer accuracy Working groups for ILC alignment issues were formed Oxford and DESY are working on an alignment train for ILC
6
Alignment working groups Gathering & tracking alignment requirements Fiducialization, Prototyping & Mechanical supports Geodesy Alignment Techniques Integration Information Systems Ground motion and stabilization
7
ILC Alignment Train 2134567 Accelerator component Internal Laser for Train straightness Tunnel Wall with targets Laser trackers To locate accelerator components
8
HLS Water Levels I reported on MINOS and Aurora mine water level data Many light sources use water levels to set alignment of their machines A Medvedko from Budker reported on ultra sonic water levels
9
Minos Data for Jan 06
10
Aurora Mine data May 06
11
Other Accelerators There are 50 light sources in operation, construction or planning Energy range 2.5 to 3.5 Gev with x rays 10 to 100 Kev NIST has a calibration standard for laser trackers and offers a calibration service
