“George Byron” Private Language Secondary School is rather a small school in Varna, Bulgaria’s third largest city and an important seaport in the country.
4
Varna is a popular international sea resort, famous for its mild climate, long and sunny summer and a lot of places of entertainment.
5
The school was founded in the first years of the democratic changes in the country as an attempt to revive private education in Bulgaria. The school also admits children of immigrants (mainly from the former Soviet Union Republics), living in Varna.
6
The school admits young people at the age of 14 and the first year is an intensive class with 18 classes of English per week. Students get their secondary education at the age of 19 and usually continue their studies in universities in Bulgaria and Europe.
7
Students mostly come from families of business people and the social background of our students is sound. There are no severely handicapped students at present.
8
Although the school strictly follows the curriculum and plans of the Ministry of Education for language schools and has proved high levels of acquired standards, our teachers work a lot on searching new ways of teaching and motivating students, not fearing to experiment and introduce innovative methods.
9
Both teachers and students do their best to be a respectful educational institution giving sound knowledge not only in the subjects in the curriculum, but in the world around us as well.
10
Extra-curriculum activities are an important part of the educational process. Students are encouraged to show their talents and take part in different activities.
11
The school arranges a variety of extracurricular activities to encourage our students to broaden their horizons and improve their current knowledge.
12
Sports and physical education is compulsory and the school hires the city’s best facilities for its students.
13
Dear friends, we hope to see you in Varna in September…
