Volume: desribes the amount of space an object takes up
3
Volume = length x width x height Or V= l x w x h The units for a completed math calculation are cubed Ex: cm 3
4
I have a shoe box that has the following dimensions: Length: 10 cm Width: 12 cm Height: 6 cm What is the volume of the box?
5
Another unit that measures volume is the Liter. The abbreviation is a capital “L” 1 Liter will fill EXACTLY 1000 cm 3
6
You can use the same prefixes that are used with other measurements Milli- is often used (milliliter) Remember, there are 1000 milliliters in a liter
7
1. pour liquid into cylinder 2. position yourself at eye level with the top of the liquid 3. read the volume from the scale on the outside of the cylinder. Read the liquid at the bottom of the meniscus
