2 What Is An Indirect Object? An Indirect object is a noun or pronoun that comes before an action verb. An indirect object is very rare. For one to appear in a sentence, a direct object must be in the sentence. 1) Sally brought her favorite dish to the party.

4 The Difference between Direct and Indirect A direct object is the action of the verb and an indirect object tells who or what did the action. The sentences components are always noun or pronouns, unless it is a question or after a verb.
