What Is Google Calendar Similar in function to MS Outlook's Calendar Time / task management program that integrates with the Google Apps suite Designed to encompass all planning needs for an individual or group of individuals

Purpose

Keep track of events and plans through an easily accessible / online source Share information regarding your plans with individuals or groups of people quickly and easily Aid in planning your day / week / month through visual aids and email / SMS reminders

Logging In

Open browser and go to IPS homepage

Select the proper login from the Quicklinks pulldown

Enter your username, password, and click "Sign in"

Setting Up Google Calendar

From the main Gmail screen, click the 'Calendar' link to open Google Calendar.

The main Google Calendar screen will look something like this.

Alternate view can be accessed from the upper right. This is the "month" view...

...and this is the "day" view.

Creating a New Event

First thing we're going to do is create a new event. Click the 'Create Event' button in the upper left.

Fill in the event section with Tim Blackmer's birthday. Click 'Save' when done to create the new event.

When the event is created you will notice a confirmation at the top of the calendar.

If you were to try and cancel your event, you would notice a dialog warning you.

Creating and Using a New Google Calendar

The 'New calendar details' screen appears.

Enter the following details for your new calendar

New calendar will appear underneath 'My calendars'

For additional settings, click the arrow to the right of the calendar you wish to change.

Modifying Events

Click the all day event we created earlier for Tim Blackmer's birthday.

When the event details screen appears, change 'Calendar' to 'Birthdays / Holidays,' then click 'Save'

Tim Blackmer's Birthday event is now placed under the Birthdays / Holidays calendar.

Create another new event (details to follow)

Enter the details for today's Google Training event. When done, click 'Save'

The new event appears on your calendar. But oops! We put it on the wrong day / time!

Click and hold the dark colored bar on the event, and then drag it to the desired location.
