Any Questions on the Homework? Are we ok with solving complex equations?
4
P.3 part 2 Solving linear equations with fractions
5
Objective Students can balance an equation with a single variable on both sides of an equation Students can solve linear equations and inequalities with fractions in them Language objective- students can explain the differences and similarities between solving an equation with an inequality and a normal equality equation.
6
Balancing an equation Our goal is to move all the unknowns to one side and all the numbers which are by themselves to the other. For Example 3x + 5 = 4x + 9 *Hint: try to keep the unknowns positive (in the above case move the 3 over instead of the 4 so we get 1x instead of -1x )
7
Another Example 3(x+2) = 4(x-3) Expand 1 st then balance both sides.
8
In teams work on #24-31
9
Solving an Equation with a Fraction
10
Finding the Least Common Multiple When we have multiple fractions we need to find the least common multiple of ALL the fractions in our equation
11
More than 1 Fraction in the equation
12
