The Big Chicken Originally a marketing ploy for a restaurant named Johnny Reb’s Chick This 56 foot tall chicken has endured time, storms, and restaurant changes to become a point of reference for those living in Cobb County

The General Located in the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History Stolen during the Civil War, had its thieves been successful, the outcome of the war could have been changed Instead, its rival, “The Texas,” and a group of Confederate Soldiers tracked it down and became part of “The Great Locomotive Chase”

Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield The site of one of the single- bloodiest days of the Battle of Atlanta during the civil war 3,000 union troops and 1,000 Confederate troops were killed here June 27 th, 1864 In 1935, the site became Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Has 3,000 acres of forests and trails making it the largest wilderness park in America

Concord Road Covered Bridge Built in 1848, this bridge in Smyrna is still open to traffic This one-lane bridge is a focal point for Smyrna’s Historic Covered Bridge District

Boeing B-29 Superfortress Transformed Cobb County’s economy, and made it the industrial center of the Southeast, & helped the U.S. defeat Japan in WWII Bell Aircraft Corporation made 663 Superfortresses from its Marietta factory which later was purchased by Lockheed Martin who refurbished the aircraft for the Korean War

Marietta Square Hub of comfort & celebration for Cobb County Home to historic landmarks such as the 1898 train depot (now the Marietta Welcome Center), the antebellum Kennesaw House (one of only two homes in Marietta to survive the Civil War),& the 1880 warehouse which now houses the Gone With the Wind Museum
