1 Thursday, September 11 Roald Dahl I can explain how authors use literary elements to create suspense. I can analyze how point of view. I can summarize a short story. I can demonstrate my comprehension of a text. I can compare and contrast works by the same author.

2 Writer’s Notebook  Write an alternate ending to “The Landlady”.

3 Finish UP  Finish the work from “The Landlady”.  You will have about ten minutes.

4 “The Wish”  Read “The Wish” 1.Using two different color highlighters… a. Find words that are connected with fear. (You need at least ten) b. Find words that are connected with movement. (You should have at least five) 2. Summarize the story. Make a top 10 list of the EVENTS. 3. Respond in paragraph form: a.We are shown the events of the story through the eyes of the narrator and the child. Comparing the two styles, who presents the more interesting or effective view for the reader? Why? Why does Dahl choose this point of view. b.Imagine that the mother is watching the boy. What is her reaction? What does she see? What does she feel?
