Jack and the Beanstalk By Roald Dahl

Jack and the Beanstalk Jack had to go sell their cow to get some money, but all that he got from selling the cow was a small green bean.

“you CraZY boy!!!” Jack’s mother yelled as he showed her the beans that he got from selling the old cow. She threw the beans in the bin and beat Jack with the handle of a vacuum cleaner!

At night the beans sprouted and grew so tall that you couldn’t see the top! Jack saw that every leaf was solid gold! So he started to climb up to get the beans at the top of the beanstalk…

… Something in the beanstalk yelled out “Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum I smell the blood of an english man!” Jack rushed back down the beanstalk and told his mum what was up there.

Jack’s mum said that the giant said what he said because jack smells bad! Jack’s mum climbed up the beanstalk and got eaten by the “whatever was up there!”

Jack had a bath, brushed his teeth and his hair so he didn’t smell like a human/english man.

Jack climbed to the top and the giant didn’t smell him

Origin. -- The origin of Jack and the beanstalk is unknown.
-- The author was British or German. --The earliest printed book that has survived is the 1807 book. --In the usual version the giant is unnamed. -- The Giant’s “Fe Fi Fo Fum” was included in Shakespeare's King Lear.

Variants Other tales include the Italian Thirteenth and the French How the Dragon was tricked. The Tale is unusual that the hero does not marry at the end.

Controversies The story is about a hero hiding in a mans house. He robs and murders the owner of the house – Jack did that. Robbery and murder were not very good to be telling little children especially when it was a child that did that!
