On Attaining Buddhahood In This Lifetime
3
On Attaining Buddhahood in This Life Time “If you chant Myoho-renge-kyo with deep faith in this principle, you are certain to attain Buddhahood in this life time.”
4
This principle – the entity of your life is in fact the entity of the Mystic Law.
5
“if you think the Law is outside yourself, you are embracing not the Mystic Law but an inferior teaching.”
6
“It is the same with a Buddha and an ordinary being. When deluded, one is called an ordinary being, but when enlightened, one is called a Buddha.”
7
The path of chanting entails a struggle to maintain faith that Myoho-renge-kyo exists within us and to defeat the fundamental darkness inherent in our lives.
8
The actual practice of daimoku means chanting Nam-myoho- renge-kyo for all people - a practice aiming for the happiness of both oneself and others.
9
Without a challenging or fighting spirit, we cannot attain Buddhahood.
