1 Revised Grantmaking Focus Areas Women’s Fund of Mississipp i August 16, 2012

2 Grantmaking Goals The overall goal of Women’s Fund grantmaking is economic self sufficiency for women and girls in Mississippi. NEW: Due to the long-term negative health and economic impacts associated with teen pregnancy, the Women’s Fund will focus its grantmaking on the prevention of teen pregnancy in order to increase economic self sufficiency for women and girls.

4 New Focus Areas Access to Evidence-Based, Medically Accurate, Comprehensive Sex Education Access to Youth-Friendly Health Services Access to Opportunity: Leadership Development and Training for Young Women* Access to Opportunity: Job Training and Wrap Around Support Services for Low Income Women* Access to Opportunity: Asset Development and Financial Education for Low Income Women* *Indicates Pathways to Opportunity Grantmaking Initiative

5 Pathways to Opportunity Grantmaking Initiative Grants will support these 3 focus areas: Access to Opportunity: Leadership Development and Training for Young Women (ages 12-19) Access to Opportunity: Job Training and Wrap Around Support Services for Low Income Women Access to Opportunity: Asset Development and Financial Education for Low Income Women

6 Pathways to Opportunity Initiative 2 year grants Will not fund advocacy Grants may be used for program and/or general operating activities. The average grant size ranges from $20,000 to $40,000 over 2 years.

7 Funding for Advocacy Activities Access to Evidence-Based, Medically Accurate, Comprehensive Sex Education Access to Youth-Friendly Health Services 1 year grants Will support advocacy activities

8 2012 Grants Process Submit online Concept Brief by September 6. Applicants with approved Concept Briefs will be invited to complete a full proposal. Notified by September 26. Deadline for Submitting a Full Proposal is October 26. Grant Awards Announced by December 14.
