5 th Grade Homework Policy Homework will be given Monday through Thursday Reading Response Journal Spelling or Grammar Practice Math practice Work toward memorizing multiplication facts every night Science homework will be later in the year

Behavior Policy 5 th Grade Consequences of Behavior Choices Consequences of negative choices: 1 st time- Warning- verbal or eye contact 2 nd time- Sign in planner and miss half of recess 3 rd time- Sign in planner and miss all of recess (Persistent signs in the planner will result in parental contact either by phone, email, or in person). 4 th time- Sign in the planner and notify parents= sent to office Severe Clause: Sent immediately to office and notify parents. Consequences of positive choices: Students who choose appropriate behavior will be positively rewarded with “good” notes, phone calls, stickers, certificates, special activities/privileges, etc.

Communication Policy 5 th Grade Communication Policy The 5 th grade teachers will communicate with you in the following ways: Notes and assignment daily in the planner Phone calls as needed E-mail Scheduled conferences- 5 th grade conference time is 2:25-3:15 daily (not Thurs.) Notes home and homework in the first folder in the binder – Please check this folder daily.

Graded Papers Folder Graded papers will be sent home in a special folder every Thursday. Please check, sign, and return your child’s folder on Friday to indicate that you have received the graded papers contained in it. If a paper is marked “CARS” (Correct And Return Signed), please make sure your child corrects the papers. Then sign the corrected paper somewhere near the top. All “CARS” papers are due by the following Monday, no exceptions.

Parent Conferences These will be scheduled as needed during the fall semester. If you would like to request a conference, please contact me by calling the school at (682) 867-6600 or by sending a note via the planner or email. My conference time is 2:25-3:15 daily.

Opportunities to Get Involved Volunteer Form Anyone who wants to volunteer must fill out a volunteer form online (room parents, classroom helpers, helping with parties, field trips, and participating in any activity involving other students). P.T.A. Meetings PTA Flyer shows the board positions that need to be filled. The cost to join PTA is $7.50; however, attending meetings is not required.

How can I help my child with Reading?

Other Information School begins at 8:20am. Please do not drop off students before 7:50am. There is no supervision before that time. If your child has a doctor’s appointment during school hours, your child will need to return to school with a note from the doctor stating the time and date of the appointment. School ends at 3:20pm. Students need to know before they get to school how they are to get home. Your child will not be supervised after 3:35pm. After school and before school day care is available on site through the YMCA. Please make arrangements ahead of time for your child. Birthdays: No cupcakes or drinks. All treats should be purchased and individually wrapped.
