UL CLASSIFIED  UL Classified – The explosion-proof enclosure has been tested only as an empty enclosure and is not certified as a complete solution.  UL Listed – The explosion-proof enclosure has been tested with a specific model of light curtain installed inside the enclosure and is certified as a complete solution.  Customers that purchase a UL Classified enclosure are responsible for installing a light curtain of their choice into the enclosure. The inspector knows the enclosure has not been tested with that light curtain when they see the UL Classified marking and could order the customer to go through more testing.  Customers that purchase a UL Listed solution receive the enclosure with the light curtain fully installed and ready to use. An inspector that sees the UL Listed marking knows that the complete solution has been tested and is verified to be used as a system.  SICK offers both UL Classified empty enclosures and UL Listed complete solutions for ultimate flexibility.  STI and Banner are only able to offer UL Classified empty enclosures and cannot provide a customer with a UL Listed explosion-proof light curtain solution.

The primary components consist of the following: ▸ Enclosure ▸ Cover  Repair of the Explosion-Proof Enclosure is not possible. Any damaged units must be replaced with a new assembly at the expense of the customer.  Manufacturing defects that are covered under warranty must also be replaced by a new assembly. This will be provided at the expense of SICK, Inc. as long as the warranty claim is accepted.  In the event that the light curtain mounted inside of the Explosion-Proof Enclosure is in need of repair, the service concept for that specific device applies.
