3 Our Kindergarten Program Supports a hands-on approach to learning Provides a rigorous, individualized program in language arts, math, social studies and science Offers flexible grouping to meet the needs of students Monitors progress continually to ensure individual student success Utilizes volunteers to support student learning

9 Phonological Awareness Recognize words and sounds that are the same/different Recognize sentences are made up of words Identify and generate rhyming words Orally segment and blend syllables (Example: /mon/ /key/ = monkey) Orally segment and blend onsets & rimes (Example: /p/ /ig/= pig)

10 Phonics Identify the difference between letters and words Understand the sound-symbol relationship of a letter Recognize and decode beginning and ending consonants Identify the letters and their sounds at the beginning, middle, and end of words

11 Fluency Recognize and read high frequency words (sight words) and irregular words Automatically recognize letters in random order Apply recognition of words through reading of Kindergarten text
