Long-term rehabilitation center for girls <16, founded in 1998 AFESIP Kampong Cham Center Maximum capacity of center = 60

Target is to build a 3rd building to complement to 2 main structures target : expansion of the center The new building will house a clinic, counseling room & office

the main building Dormitory is upstairs Weaving & Informal Classrooms are downstairs New Day representatives visited the center to do due diligence

All girls have been trafficked and sexually exploited, or come from at-risk situations the girls who live there … Currently home to 38 girls Some are as young as 6 Some are HIV Positive

girls like Nicolab … She was trafficked across the border to Thailand to work as a sex slave Nicolab is 14 years old She was rescued by AFESIP and stays at Kampong Cham

She wants to be a journalist when she grows up Lithiya’s uncle sold her into the sex trade She was rescued by AFESIP and now stays at Kampong Cham Two days before our visit, her uncle came looking for her at the center Although safe, she lives with the fear of being returned to a brothel by her uncle provide constant protection - lithiya’s story …

return to a normal life … All girls currently attend the local school nearby Walking distance to both primary & secondary schools

learning for the future … All girls attend English classes at the center Classes are taught by a private tutor

nurturing younger girls … Bracelet weaving taught to younger girls

learning new skills … Provides training in weaving, sewing and basic agriculture Prepares the girls to earn sustainable incomes to support themselves
