23 November 2015—Warm-up/Agenda check As a group, come up with a SEE set about MLK’s purpose in “I Have a Dream” Statement (copy and fill in the blanks): In his well-known speech, “I Have a Dream” pastor and civil rights advocate Dr. Martin Luther King attempts to convince __________ (target audience) of the idea that ______________ (message/claim). By using _____________ (rhetorical strategy) King delivers his message. Evidence: For instance, “_____________” direct quote from speech as an example of rhetorical strategy. Explanation/Elaboration: 2-3 sentences explaining how the rhetorical strategy supports and strengthens the message/claim.
