September 2013 Updates: Alma’s classes

I took Alma to a story time session at Gymbaroo. After some free play, the kids listened to the story “Wombat Stew” and made paintings with “mud splatters” and wiggly bugs using diluted paint and droppers. Great fine motor practice!

While the staff set up for the next story, the kids had a free play

Next they listened to “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and made two artworks based on the story

The caterpillar was a print of her toes!

And some more free play till the works were dry... It was a fantastic creative session, and we both enjoyed it. Then we went shopping...

After a lot of practice at music class, it was at last time for the big concert! Lorraine and family took me and the girls to the beautiful St Columbus school, in the bushland in Springwood. Alma was very excited to wear the same hair ties Hahgoot wore to her first performance at dancing!

The performance started with two girls performing a song by Adel. Then it was time for the little ones... Here they are performing “Galumph went the little green frog one day” with impressive accuracy. We came with very low expectations as they were awful at rehearsing, but they were SO well behaved on stage, we were all pleasantly surprised.

Next they did “Ride, baby, ride” and took a bow – and no one fell over or cried!

After Alma’s group performance we stayed a little bit longer to see Cathy’s other piano students. They played in order of ability, so the first student was a mature aged student who played a very simple tune. But to make it more interesting, Cathy sang with him, so it sounded just fantastic (she has an amazing voice). She is a great teacher, very pleasant and very encouraging, and the concert went really well.

After the concert I took the girls to have a sushi lunch and they tried new things like crab claw and my seafood soup

We had a fun play date with Angelina and Virginia at the park near the river. In our next presentation: School holidays!
