How does INK differ from Charcoal or Pencil? It doesn’t BLEND It’s hard to draw LIGHTLY It doesn’t erase!
5
Our drawings this month with TEACH you how to draw 3D objects in INK! Specifically crazy towers like these:
6
But first, we’re going to practice our drawing skills with ink (sharpies)!
7
How to add shading with PEN Weighted Lines Thicker lines add “shadows” to an object
8
How to add shading with PEN Weighted Lines Also bring objects to the FOREGROUND of the picture
9
How to add shading with PEN Scumbling tiny, squiggly circular lines - sort of like "controlled scribbling"
10
Follow along with the screen prompts to practice! READY!?

Coming soon… (I have to draw the examples step by step)
12
WEEK 2 Let’s get started!
13
STEP 1 Wavy line with eight hashmarks
14
STEP 2 Add “bumps” to your line, connecting the hashmarks
15
STEP 2 Extend vertical line up from #1, #3, and #5 bump These lines can curve, bend, narrow and widen… but they cannot CROSS.
16
STEP 3 Add more curved “bumps” between the vertical lines The towers only look 3D if your lines CURVE into the vertical line. This is an ILLUSION.
17
STOP HERE Check your neighbor’s towers. Do they look 3D? Do the lines cross? Are the curves CURVY?
18
STOP HERE Switch to sharpie if you feel good about your progress Carefully trace your pencil lines in sharpie. Continue the REST of your drawing in sharpie.
19
STEP 4 Add the curved “bump” lines for towers #2, #4, and #6 Does you drawing look 3D???
20
STEP 5 Turn your paper upside down and do the same thing! Does you drawing look 3D???
21
STEP 6 Add shading in the form of *hatching* to the valleys! Does you drawing look 3D???
