1 Creative Shading of Spaces Objective: You will use value in order practice for shading on realistic objects. DRILL: 1.You need a pencil, a ruler, and scrap paper from Miss Gauger 2.In your sketchbook- Draw a design using at least 10 lines and 10 shapes. Use a ruler and/or shapes to trace from stencils or rectangles/ circles from back. 3.We will use gradual and stepped shading to fill the spaces. 4.Then we can use mark-making and color.

2 Criteria: 1.10 shapes 2.10 lines- any type TYPES OF SHADING: 1.Gradual shading- dark to light. 2.Gradual shading- dark to light to dark. 3.Step shading with 5 different shades. 4.Some type of mark-making- scribbling, hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, squares, stars, etc… 5.Colored Pencil

4 Colored Pencil Objective: You will use color in order to create value to your spaces. DRILL: 1.What is the difference between these 2 pictures? (Shading) 2.Get a box of colored pencils from cabinet and turn to the page from yesterday.

5 Why is this poor shading? Can see lines. Messy GOOD BECAUSE: Gradual dark to light

9 Mark- Making Objective: You will use a variety of mark-making techniques in order to create value in your spaces. DRILL: 1.What is mark-making? 2.We will do 4 types: 1.Hatching 2.Cross-hatching 3.Stippling 4.Your choice
