2.  King of England and king of Ireland in 1760  Became King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801.  Long reign  Suffered from porphyria

3.  The Americans weren’t happy with their status.  Armed conflict broke out in 1775.  The colonies declared their independence in July 1776. The American Revolutionary War

4.  George III wanted to always be at war with the revolutionaries.  The British put up a huge fight but kept failing.  George was eventually forced to accept defeat The American Revolutionary War

5.  In late 1810 became dangerously ill.  Prince of Wales acted as Regent for the remainder of George III’s life.  Later on suffered from dementia, became completely blind and increasingly deaf.  Died in 1820. Engraving by Henry Meyer of George III in later life
