Focusing Question: How can you select words and phrases that give your readers a clear picture of your experience? Strategy: To improve the clarity of writing by replacing tired words with words, phrases and sentences that are unique and vivid.

They: Reread to look for words that do not paint a picture (Strategy #1) Brainstorm several synonyms and choose effective words and phrases (Strategy #2: Intermediate) Add detail when describing facial expression and body language (Strategy #3: Experienced).
