February 07, 2002 Online Monitoring Meeting Detector Examines Should aid in: 1.Diagnosing problems early and getting it fixed 2.Making decisions on the detector status and data quality Goals for the Presentations on Examines: Have experts take a good look at the Examines; get feedback from shifters. Identify and implement improvement. Ensure that shifters have proper tools and clear instructions to do their job. Should the training be more rigorous? Develop a set of summary histograms for global monitoring. Develop criteria for run certification.

Other Issues Physics Examine: Michiel is making progress We will use as much code as possible from offline DQM effort for physics histograms (Stefan, Arnulf, etc.) Issues of I/O for Physics Examine, Express Stream, Event Display, Begin & End Run, and Run Certification interface are looked into. Need Input: Releases (code) used for Examines? Online resources for monitoring? * We will discuss these at a future meeting *

GUI Histoscope: CD’s policy is to continue maintenance, but no development unless requested by experiments. Joy is willing to come to our meeting to answer questions. Root: Lots of emails back & forth between Joel and Harrison. Constructive open dialogue. Harrison has contacted Rene Brun, downloaded a version of ROOT browser which he says works remarkably well. Not all functions as Joel’s. We will have a meeting on GUI next week Time & Place TBA.

Need list of problems for categorizing the system/data to be “bad” or “maybe” Examples: Detector “bad”:Bad/missing module/sector/crate Detector readout problems HV set wrong Unnoticed HV trip Lots of “hot” or “dead” channels Etc. Detector “maybe”:Several new hot cells Problem with a few channels Magnet current fluctuating Etc.
