Work in Central Asia regarding SEIS UNECE/EEA & partners assistance to establish national SEIS - two UNECE intergovernmental bodies: – Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment and Management of monitoring networks Development of environmental information systems Preparation and application of SoE reports Preparation and application of other assessment methodologies – Joint Task Force on Environmental Indicators: Transfer of knowledge on environmental indicators Discussed and agreed a set of environmental indicators Review of the production and sharing of the indicators

Work in Central Asia regarding SEIS UNECE/EEA & partners assistance to establish national SEIS – the focus of both bodies: Today: several environmental indicators / Tomorrow: additional several indicators to be added as part of SEIS common components (until a full list is reached) Assessment based on indicators – Create the necessary knowledge base for effective policy making

Work in Central Asia regarding SEIS Future activities with the lead of WGEMA and JTF 2014 202X Each CA country: - has a system in place producing the agreed indicators - writes the ‘story’ for each of the indicators - analyzes the indicators and makes environmental assessments More immediate focus (before 2016): Indicators and assessment regarding Air Pollution and Green Economy (as potential themes for 2016 EfE Ministerial Conference) WGEMA and JTF give a guarantee for a continuing process and sustainability
