Bones You have 206 bones in your body. The skeletal system performs several functions.It protects soft areas in your body so you don’t get injured, it provides your shape, controls your bodily movement, stores minerals that you need and produces blood.

Mineral Storage The body needs a mineral called calcium. This mineral is a major part of the bone.You need mineral to perform tasks like breathing, thinking and moving. Your bones become weak if they do not have a lot of calcium.

Moving The bones in your body help you move in different ways and different directions. Bones are unable to move without muscles. The bones hold muscles up.

The Production Of Blood Cells Inside of your bones is a thing called bone marrow that heals hurt blood cells and produces them.
