2.  Good Morning.  Our guest announcer is Francheska, Catherine, Paoly and Natalie. Tomorrow ??? will be our announcer.  Please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. The Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Please remain standing for a moment of silence.

4.  You may be seated.  Today is Friday, October 23, 2015.  The weather is sunny and cool with a high temperature of 60 degrees.  The lunch today is popcorn chicken.

5. Reminders  Progress reports (grades) were sent home. Please return the signed paper with your Family Folder.  T-shirts will be on sale on Friday morning from 8:05 – 8:20 and during all 4 lunches in Room 4. The cost for a Newcomer Academy T-shirt is $5.  The School Pride Week door decorating contest will be on Friday, October 30 at 8:45!!

9. Family Folders  Family Folders were sent home FRIDAY.  Families should read and sign the important papers.  Return the important forms and folder to your homeroom teacher.  There will be information about:  Picture Day  Your class grades  A survey

10. Winter Sports Physicals  Winter sports are: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling and Boys & Girls Swimming (high school only).  All middle schools winter sports physical will take place at Trexler Middle School on Friday, October 23rd from 3:00-5:00 pm.  Allen sports physicals will be held at Allen on October 26th at 3:00 pm.  Students should let their homeroom teacher, office staff or Ms. Shetayh know if they are interested in a winter sport.

11. Tour Guides  We are in need of student tour guides.  If you are interested in helping new students learn about our school, please see Mrs. Greitzer.

12. Jacobsburg Trip  All students are invited to attend a trip to Jacobsburg Park in November. The dates are below:  Students in Grades 7 and 8- November 5  Students in Grades 9-12- November 6  All students must return a signed permission slip to Mr. Herzog or Ms. Hunt as soon as possible. You may also return your signed permission slip with your Family Folder.  Students will be allowed to wear jeans (with uniform shirt).

13. 8 th Grade Trip  8 th Graders will be attending a trip to Lehigh University on one of the following dates:  October 23- South Mountain students with Ms. Shetayh  October 30- Harrison Morton students with Mrs. Moyer  November 6- Raub students with Ms. Spinosa  November 13- Trexler students with Ms. Spinosa  All students must return a signed permission slip to Mrs. Greitzer of Mrs. Spinosa as soon as possible.

14. Dieruff Announcements This year’s College & Career Fair will be held on Thursday, October 29 in the Dieruff Cafeteria from 6- 8pm. There will be colleges, technical schools and military recruiters be available to meet with you and your family. All students, grades 9-12, and parents are invited.

15. Allen Announcements There will be a Latino Leadership Club meeting every Tuesday at 2:55 in Room 8-222.

16. Guest Announcers  We need student(s) to begin doing the morning announcements!  If you are interested, please see Ms. Greitzer.

17. STARS Remember Newcomer Academy students and staff are STARS. We are safe. We take responsibility for our actions. We have a positive attitude. We are respectful of all students and staff.

18. 150 Years of ASD  In 2016, the Allentown School District will be celebrating 150 years of service and education!  Our 150 Task is:  My name is______. One goal I hope to accomplish this year is __________.  My name is Mrs. Greitzer. One goal I hope to accomplish this year is to have positive relationships with students and staff.

19. Free English Classes for Families  There are free English classes for your families.  Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:00 at Allen and Dieruff High Schools.  Classes will be held October 5 through November 23.

21. Assembly Helpers  Mrs. Greitzer is in need of students to help at our next STAR assembly.  If you are interested in helping, please see Mrs. Greitzer.  Our STAR Assembly will be held this Friday.

22. Trexler  Join the Heart and Soul (girls) running program in the Community Outreach Office after school. The program will meet each Tuesday and Thursday and begins on September 29th. See Mrs. Smith in Room 114 or Miss Flicker in room 252 for a registration form.

23. Doors and School Safety  Only adults are permitted to let visitors into the building.  If you see a visitor or a student at a door, please tell an adult to assist that person.  This is to ensure the safety of our building.

24. School Uniforms As the weather gets cooler, please wear:  a non-hooded sweater.  a long-sleeved t-shirt under your polo shirt. Also, please wear your id card.

25. Our Giving Tree More than 20 items were collected for the Giving Tree! If any staff member would like to take the items to a local organization as a donation, please let Ms. Greitzer know this week.

Enrichment Classes  All students will report to Enrichment classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2:00.  The schedule on Enrichment days is below:  1- 7:50  2-8:30  3-9:00  4-9:30  5-10:00  6-10:30  7-11:00  8-11:30  9-12:00  10-12:30  11-1:00  12-1:30  13-2:00- ENRICHMENT Classes

27. Pink Day  Thank you to all of our students and staff.  We raised $171.00 for breast cancer awareness.
