SmartLock: US Patent #7,280,914 US Patent for SmartLock “An instrumented navigation system for aiding a towboat and barge configuration in the entry and traversal of a lock located on a waterway or for navigation around other structures, such as bridge piers or docks. The system consists of wirelessly linked computers on the towboat and the lock which display navigational charts showing the position of the tows as the approach and enter the locks. The Project

Port of Pittsburgh Commission James R. McCarville Met Coke Conference – Pittsburgh November 2, 2010 The PPC intends to issue an RFP (Request for Proposals) to: Design, develop, maintain and manage a wireless broadband network at the three locks that form the pool in downtown Pittsburgh to be used as a test bed for platforms, programs and equipment to be evaluated over a three year period, consisting of two initiatives:

Funding in Hand PPC will use its own funds to build the NSI and ITB construction at 3 Locks in downtown pool in 2012 We anticipate it will be self- supporting in its operations Funding is Reasonably Anticipated to Extend to 12 Pools in Western Pennsylvania in 2012 2012 - NSI and ITB for 3 Locks
