2. In this session we will give you an opportunity to register one of your data sets using the KNB data registry.

3. Data Registries  Why are they important?

4. KNB Data Registry  Created through a cooperative effort  Based on software developed through the Knowledge Network for Biocomplexity

5. Knowledge Network for Biocomplexity  a national network intended to facilitate ecological and environmental research on biocomplexity.  is an efficient way to discover, access, interpret, integrate and analyze complex ecological data from a highly-distributed set of field stations, laboratories, research sites, and individual researchers.

6. KNB Data Registry  A variety of different interfaces based on organizational needs

12. in the lower left- hand part of your screen you will notice a login & registration box Registering with KNB

13. Click on link “create new account” to open the window where you can create your metacat account

14.  This window will open  Please fill in the registration information  Register as unaffiliated  Information in red is required. Creating your Metacat Account

15.  If you skip any of the information in red you will get the following error Creating your Metacat Account

16.  Write down this information as you will need your username and password to create your profile in Morpho!  You can use this account to search for data on the KNB website and to access data on Morpho Creating your Metacat Account

17. Once you have successfully registered return to the home page. in the lower right- hand part of your screen you will notice a data management box Registering your data on line

18. Click on link “Register your dataset online” to open the new windowRegister your dataset online
