GA Milestones Replacing CRCT and EOCT assessments during the 2014-2015 year. End of Grade Assessment (EOG): Grades 3-8 ELA, math, science, and social studies

Georgia Milestones Assessment http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and- Assessment/Assessment/Pages/Georgia-Milestones-Assessment- System.aspx http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and- Assessment/Assessment/Pages/Georgia-Milestones-Assessment- System.aspx
5
Purpose of the EOG Assessment Provide a clear signal of the student’s academic performance- how well they are prepared for what is next. Measures how well they’ve mastered the skills at each grade level
6
New Features the Georgia Milestone Assessment System include: Open-ended questions items in language arts and mathematics (all grades and courses); Constructed response- require the student to write a response as opposed to selecting a response. Extended-response items require more elaborate answers and explanations of reasoning. They allow for multiple correct answers and/or varying methods of arriving at the correct answer. A writing component (in response to passages read by students) at every grade level and course within the language arts assessment
7
New Features the Georgia Milestone Assessment System include: Transition to online administration over time, with online administration considered the primary mode of administration and paper-penc il as back- up until the transition is complete. In the spring of 2014-2015 4 th, 7 th, and special populations will be administered an online assessment. Grades 3,5,6, and 8 will take a paper/pencil administration.
8
Assessment Results Scores will be reported to parents in the fall of 2015
9
Periodic Assessments Gordon County Schools uses periodic assessments to measure progress on standards taught throughout the year. Assessments are given at weeks 12 and 24 (First and Second grade students are also assessed in May to determine progress made throughout the entire year.) Subjects tested are: Reading, ELA, Math The students are practicing for the Georgia Milestones Assessment by answering constructed response questions in reading and math this year. The data from the assessments are used by teachers to plan instruction to meet the needs of the students.
10
College and Career Performance Ready Index Commonly referenced as CCRPI Results in a score for public schools based on multiple criteria Achievement Test scores- % of students meeting or exceeding in reading, ELA, math, science and social studies Additional criteria- % of English language learners moving up a level on their ACCESS testing, % of special needs students served in inclusion settings, 3 rd and 5 th grade students scoring above expectation on Lexile (reading) levels, % of students completing career cluster modules, % of students missing fewer than 6 days of school, % of students passing five core classes and % of students exceeding in five core content tests
11
College and Career Performance Ready Index Closing the Gap Progress Growth for ALL students- compared to academically similar peers Achievement Gap SES performance relative to other schools in state by groups of students Performance of special student populations English Language Learners Students with disabilities Economically disadvantaged students.
12
College and Career Performance Ready Index Exceeding the Bar Innovative Practices Students enrolled in fine arts Students completing career lessons Teachers using data
13
How did SES do on CCRPI for 2013-14?

Student Growth Model http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and- Assessment/Assessment/Pages/Georgia-Student-Growth-Model.aspx http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and- Assessment/Assessment/Pages/Georgia-Student-Growth-Model.aspx
16
A student growth percentile (SGP) describes a student’s growth relative to academic peers Academic peers are other students statewide with a similar score history This ensures a student’s starting point is considered when measuring his or her growth Growth percentiles range from 1 to 99 Lower percentiles indicate lower academic growth and higher percentiles indicate higher academic growth Uses two years of prior scores, when available. Retest data is not included. The use of EOCT opt-out data is under review. All students, regardless of their achievement level, have the ability to demonstrate all levels of growth 16
17
Low (1-34), Typical (35-65), and High (66-99) Levels were set using information about the interaction between student growth and status- based achievement A student who demonstrates low growth generally will regress academically (i.e., not maintain his/her current level of achievement) A student who demonstrates typical growth generally will maintain or improve academically A student who demonstrates high growth generally will make greater improvement academically 17
