Biology 2 Packet II Lab Food Production in Plants

Copy this information on Pg. 25 in your Packet: Plants make glucose (their food) inside their bodies. This is called photosynthesis! Every living thing needs food for energy to survive. No Food = Death  Plants store energy as starch, which is a whole bunch of glucose linked together: Starch = Glucose-Glucose-Glucose-Glucose Plants combines CO2 (from air) and water (from ground) to make Glucose. Plants use the energy from the sun to convert CO2 and water into glucose! No sun = No photosynthesis! When Iodine and starch mix, solution turns purple.

Fresh Leaf From Plant

Leaf after two days in the Dark

Set up for Boiling Leaf in Ethanol

Purpose of Ethanol: To remove the Chlorophyll in leaves. Chlorophyll is what captures sunlight for photosynthesis!

Results for boiling leaf in Ethanol
