3 About Azercosmos Azercosmos is the premier Azerbaijani satellite operator offering hi-tech satellite-related services for the territories of Europe, Africa, Central Asia and Middle East. The technical staff of the company is comprised of highly-skilled local specialists who passed a series of trainings provided by its foreign partners in such countries as US, Malaysia, China and India. 3

5 Main Satellite Ground Control Station
Azerspace-1 is currently operated by means of Main Satellite Ground Control Station of Azercosmos OJSCo situated in the Absheron Peninsula near the city of Baku. 5

6 Backup Satellite Ground Control Station
For emergency situations, Azercosmos has its Backup Satellite Ground Control Station which is located in the Nakhchivan region of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Backup Station is capable of simultaneous control over several satellites at a given time. 6

Satellite name: AZERSPACE-1 Geostationary position: 46 East Longitude Launched: 7 February 2013 Telecommunication service frequencies: C-band (3-6 Ghz) Ku-band (10-14 Ghz) Satellite lifetime: 15 years 7

8 Satellite can be used for
TV broadcasting: Any TV signal standard – analog or digital Any video encoding standards like MPEG2, MPEG4; Any video resolution standards like SDTV, HDTV and even Ultra HDTV; Key clients are TV/radio companies who wish to broadcast to the areas of Azerspace-1 coverage (Europe, Africa, Central Asia and Middle East). 8

9 Azerspace-1 usage areas
Data connection: Supporting any data connection protocols; Data speed depends on volume frequencies purchased by a client. It can vary from 0 to 1000 Mb/s; No monthly limit of traffic volume; Data connection can be between two points within private network and also can be used for accessing from one point to Internet; Key clients are telecom companies (VSAT service providers, Internet Service Providers, mobile operators and etc.) serving other industries where any head office needs to connect to a regional branch (or a ship) in sea, island, desert, mountain or any area without telecom infrastructure. 9

10 Azerspace-1 usage areas by industry
TV companies for wide area broadcast; State entities which want all regional branches to be connected to the main office; Mobile operators can connect main station with an antenna somewhere far or at a difficult location; Banks can connect main office with an ATM somewhere far or at a difficult location; Any company head office may connect to remote branches; In all cases, with access to Internet, a client can easily browse internet, use all internet communication software like Skype etc. 10

12 C-band Total bandwidth: 288 Mhz C-band has two coverage zones:
Africa Central Asia& Middle East Very effective for areas with heavy and frequent rain C band normally requires 30-40% larger antenna than Ku-band 12
