Greater than, Less than, or Equal to 1? Choose which color die will be the first number and which will be the second number in a division problem (what’s the precise vocabulary?). Roll the dice. Write down the division problem. Predict whether the quotient will be >, <, or = to 1. (Why?) Use a calculator to find the actual answer. Was your prediction right? Circle all division problems that were less than 1. What do you notice? Wonder?

Greater than, Less than, or Equal to 1? Choose which color die will be the numerator and which will be the denominator. Roll the pair of dice 2 times. Write down each fraction to make a division problem. Predict whether the quotient will be >, <, or = to 1. (Why?) Use a calculator to find the actual answer. Was your prediction right? Circle all division problems that were less than 1. What do you notice? Wonder?
3
Draw a model to find the whole. Write the division problem that each problem represents.
4
How about these? Can you draw the model?
