QUESTION MARKS Write QUESTION MARKS next to sections of the reading that are confusing or unclear.

ANNOTATE Write margin notes that summarize and/or clarify the important information from paragraphs or sections.

SUMMARIZE Write a one sentence SUMMARY that captures the main idea of the piece.

HIGHLIGHT Don‘t forget to HIGHLIGHT or circle content specific vocabulary.

THE STATUE OF LIBERTY ImportantInteresting France paid for and built the statue as a gift, and the US paid for and built the pedestal. It weighs as much 45 elephants. The statue stands on Liberty Island outside NYC and was dedicated on October 28, 1886. 50 mph winds cause the torch to sway up to 6 inches.
