Why Lane Stadium? I choose Lane Stadium because I’m now a Hokie and I’m a diehard sports fanatic. I’m also very interested in the tradition and history behind Virginia Tech, and this project was an excellent opportunity to do so. Lane Stadium

History of Lane Stadium 1 April 1964: Construction begins Oct 2, 1965: First Varsity football game; 9-7 win over William and Mary Oct 23, 1965: Stadium dedicated to Edward Lane Summer 1968: Construction complete; original capacity of 35,050, $3.5 million dollars spent. 1980: Additional seats added, capacity up to 52,500 1982: First nationally televised game, Tech wins 21-14 over UVa. 1994-2001: Yearly renovations and additions Lane Stadium 1 Lane Stadium/Worsham Field
