6. A-BDS Support
A-BDS is one of the most important services of BDS and becoming the promising usage in the future, especially for cell phones and other handheld units.
China telecom has been working on to provide high performance of BeiDou Services
Design and implement of A-BDS laboratory system : An A-BDS device may connect to A-BDS server and download positioning information by CDMA radio bearer.
China Telecom and vendors have been working together to promote the CDMA A-BDS chip integrated, develop the BeiDou navigation applications based on CDMA devices.

同时我们也认为，北斗的大规模发展一定是要借助手机这个载体，就如同GPS，正是由于十多年前的美国E911法案启动了消费型GPS第一个成功的里程碑，自此以后，GPS接收器的灵敏度进步了几乎千倍以上，到现如今日手机也已搭配GPS 功能为标准，进而衍生出LBS，2012年，中国位置服务市场规模超过40亿人民币，2013年将突破70亿。
正是看到了北斗的应用发展趋势，所以中国电信对高性能的北斗定位能力提供、北斗和移动互联网融合进行了有益探索，主要方向就是A-beidou，在技术研究时，发现国际标准缺失，一旦标准缺失，会给以后的系统建设造成影响，因为只有通过全球统一、开放的标准，厂商们才可以向用户提供广泛的具有各种竞争能力和互操作性的移动终端和业务，才能并确保整个北斗产业的正循环。所以这也是中国电信要推进3GPP2北斗立项的原因。
另外，中国电信也积极和终端厂商合作推进CDMA终端上集成A-BDS芯片，并开发基于CDMA智能终端的北斗导航应用，以拓展公众市场
