Lighting Tips Gloves!!! Lights get hot very quickly. You can buy relatively cheap gloves from Home Depot. Bulbs are very fragile! Don’t touch bulbs with bare hands (oils on your hand can damage a bulb) Utilize natural light or reflectors to manipulate light. (Cost effective and easier than handling ligth equipment.

Sound Position also know as Boom Operator Equipment can be rented from F & M Department for 120 students or from film shops. Equipment includes boom pole (microphone), headphones, and recording device.

Sound Tips Bring Spare Batteries for Recorder! Look out for unwanted background noises and peaks in sound. If something seemed wrong with the sound in a shot, let the crew (director) know after the take! Be careful of wind and electronic equipment. Refrigerators tend to make a humming noise that is noticeable in editing! Remember to get room tone!
