FUNDING The technology centers are allowed to vote local millage to support their technology center In some cases not dependent on state dollars

Separate Structure from Secondary Education and/or Higher Education Over 230 Employees. The smallest State Staff is 3.25

ADULT BASIC EDUCATION Adult Basic Education Program supervised by ODCTE not SDE. Began July 1, 2014 30 Centers operating within the State 4.5 full time employees manage this activity

Skill Centers Offer Inmate Training in the Skill Centers— 16 Skill Centers, 50+ Teachers Youthful offenders trained for High demand Jobs. Offered to 18-21 Year old offenders in the correctional institution Community Corrections-Pre Release (Welding, Culinary Arts, Heavy Equipment)

Each technology center district has their own separate board of education Business and Industry Training. Served over 6000 Companies

Agency receives and distributes Carl Perkins funds. Funds do not go directly to technology centers and comprehensive schools Individual student data system. New system to be launched January 1, 2016

ODCTE responsible for Career and Technical Education at the post- secondary level-Not Department of Labor or Higher Education Statewide Curriculum, Assessment and Testing Division

TECHNOLOGY CENTERS 28 Technology Center Districts, each with their own separate Board of Education. 58 Campuses (Mid Del- Exception)

Working Relationship with Department of Commerce Working Relationship with State Department of Education Technology Center Superintendent Hired by the Local School Board.

Method of funding. Majority of Technology Centers are mainly funded by Ad Valorem Tax Base. Maximum of 15 Mills Funded by the Number of Full Time Instructors (was programs) Not by average Daily Attendance

Adults Enrolled in Class with Secondary Students Cannot give credit to high school students. They are an extension of the comprehensive high school

Majority of secondary students are either Juniors or Seniors. Can enroll Sophomores, mainly in the academy area Some academies enroll 9 th graders Courses offered in 400 comprehensive school districts

76 Chapters of the National Technical Honor Society with over 2300 members Offer instruction in 15 clusters and students enroll at the Career Major Level

STATE LEVEL Superintendent of Public Instruction serves as Chair of the Career Tech Board Nine State Board Members appointed by the Governor Separate Board for Career Tech Two state board members serve on career tech board and State Board of Education
