2 Things we need House t-shirt and correct uniform John Smith Waterproofs and wellies need to be in school for wet weather Contact books- please ensure that these are handed to an adult if there are any comments Book bag each day please. Homework is sent on Friday to be returned Tuesday, please place in the box outside Water bottles- your child needs a water bottle- transparent, named and with a sports cap. Water only please.

3 Our class Adults in the classroom- Miss Lovell (teacher), Miss Michaels (teaching assistant) In addition Miss Hughes will be here Thursday am, and on a rota Tuesday pm with Mrs Harrison (P.E) We are happy to chat to parents- before and after school, but a note helps me to remember.

4 Behaviour Management and Class Rules Behaviour of children is monitored using the traffic light system. Every child is on a green card everyday. Children who misbehave are put on a yellow card. Children can earn a green card Children who continues to misbehave will be put on a red card and a report will be given to parents explaining why their child was on a red card. Class rules will be devised by the children on the first PSHE lesson and it will displayed in the class.

5 Rewards Star of the Week Star of the Week will be awarded to a child who showed good behaviour and good work/effort during lessons. Star of the week is celebrated every Friday with the rest of the school. House Points Children will be awarded house points when they are show outstanding behaviour and also demonstrating determination in their work. House points will also be given to the children who stayed on a green card. Best Listener The adults in class are also looking for someone who listens carefully to others. Wonderful work Particulary impressive work may be photocopied & sent home and displayed on our wonderwall

6 Class Routine Early Morning Work The children will select their own reading books from the coloured boxes, place their book bag in their tray, stow their coat on their peg in the corridor and place their water bottle in the crate. Then they will carry out a task. Reading, jigsaws, handwriting, maths puzzles…. Morning Sessions Numeracy Phonics we are chccking each child’s phonic knowledge they will then be placed in an appropriate group to support their learning of all the sounds. Literacy

7 Class Routine Afternoon Sessions Guided Reading Children will be in groups during guided reading. Foundation Subjects Foundation Subjects will be taught in the afternoon. Ms Tuhey – Geography Ms Lovell – Computing Mrs Alam - R.E Break 15-20 minutes in the afternoon

8 P.E P.E lessons are timetabled on Monday and Tuesday Please ensure that your child has the appropriate kit (house T-shirt, shorts and plimsolls) clearly labelled and in school at all times.

9 Homework Journal and Spellings Children to complete one task each week. It doesn’t have to be in order. Homework Journal must be handed in one Tuesday and will be returned to you on Thursday. Spellings are given out on Friday They will consist of a letter pattern plus words from the high frequency list. Please help your child to read and write the words. We do not carry out spelling tests in KS1, but would expect children to use correct spelling of words they have learned in their independent writing.
