Philosophies and Rules Development Club with strong emphasis on being competitive. –Team Size –Coaching –Skill Sessions –Tournament Selection Promote discipline and structure while working hard and having fun. –On-time to practice and events –Notify coaches in advance of conflicts –Hard work, positive respectful attitude at all times –All players share in net, ball and referee duties –Players must inform coaches if they leave the practice gym or tournament gym

Philosophies and Rules Strong emphasis on sportsmanship, team and program –Emphasize a team centric approach Team comes first Teams are made up of many roles all of which are important for the team to be successful You are only as strong as your weakest link –Be respectful to players, coaches, parents, referees and facilities within our club and outside our club –Take pride in Irish Elite Volleyball –Watch and cheer on other Irish Elite teams Support a Balanced Approach to Sports –There is more to life than volleyball –Family and School are priorities –Support other activities (sports, performing arts, etc.)

Philosophies and Rules Playing Time –Fair but not necessarily equal –Volleyball is a position-specific sport –Tiered approach Practice, League, Tournaments (Pool Play, Playoffs) Age group specific Coach Specific –Lack of effort, poor attitude, unacceptable behavior, tardiness and un-excused absences from practice may impact playing time.

Philosophies and Rules Dress Code –Practice: T-shirt, shorts or spandex, shoes, knee pads. –Hair tied back –No Spaghetti strap / tank tops –Shirts must hang below the top of shorts – Shoes must not be worn outside. Outside shoes are taken off before practice. –No Jewelry –Competitions: Team uniforms (shirt, shorts, and socks) must be worn. Per USAV rules, undergarments (t-shirts, sports bras, leotards, etc.) must not be exposed –No Jewelry!

Philosophies and Rules Conflict Resolution Player should speak to coach Establish a time for the coach, parent and player to meet and discuss Speak to Program Director Do not approach a coach during a competition or when other players are present Please wait 24 hours before reacting to an issue

Practice Schedule Approximately 2 practices per week at various facilities (RCC, RMS, SHMS, and RHS) –First practice is skill develop with station approach –Second practice is team practice with skill and team play focus Some Saturdays and Sundays Wednesday nights will be distributed amongst all teams Some shared court practices

Other Info Referee and Scorekeeping Clinic –Online training this year –More info at: http://www.ncrusav.org/jr-girls/http://www.ncrusav.org/jr-girls/ Players are NOT required to learn all work team roles! Coaches will determine which players are trained in what roles. At least 3 must complete scorer training and 3 must complete referee training. If not a scorer or referee, the player will complete libero tracker and line judge training. –There is a lower-level of scorer training (BASIC) available for teams that will not play in any qualifying events or go outside of the Region –Coaches will still need to complete training in all roles of the work team –Parents can now also take testing to assist scoring or officiating Tournaments –Each team get 8 – 14 Tournament days –Teams will review schedule tonight –Additional tournaments can be entered if team agrees –Tournament information will be posted on website and provided to parents once receive

Required Fundraiser Budgeted Goal –$100 per player –$150 maximum per family –Opt Out Option ($100 per player) Checks completed tonight. –Check are cashed or returned upon completion of fundraiser Cookie Dough –20 boxes per player (30 per family) –Selling starts today! –Orders Due December 1 @ RCC (practice night) –Incentives for players –Cookie Dough Delivered December 15 th at RCC Volunteer requirement –Can opt out for $100 –Required to cover at least one volunteer shift at a tournament or another off-site fundraiser

Uniform Sizing and Apparel Everyone must complete sizing sheet –Jersey, spandex, T-shirt, and socks –Can purchase extra Tees and Socks –Make sure players try on samples!!!
