2
Why make an Advent Booklet? Advent is a time of preparing to welcome again God’s gift of love and grace born in the human form of Jesus Christ. Advent is about waiting and preparing.
3
Creative engagement Creating an Advent booklet gives us a way to creatively structure our individual preparations for the annual celebration of the birth of Christ.
4
Start with the sample template provided, then insert your own text and images The sample booklet provided coincides with a four-week set of activities and readings, but you can adapt this activity to create multiple booklets for weekly or daily Advent exercises.

5 Steps to Create Your Advent Journal 1.Print the sample template provide (see last page). 2.With writing on the outside make a vertical mountain fold down center, using the center as a guide. 3.Fold horizontally first in half, then fold in half again so you now can see the Advent booklet size. 4.Reopen all folds and fold the paper (writing on the outside) horizontally in half; make a crease, and use scissors to cut halfway through the fold. 5.Pull the paper open…. Refold bringing the two inner booklet panels together with text to be read on the outside for both left and right inside panels. Fold down along center fold line, and fold again to make booklet flat—make sure the first and last pages of the booklet are on the outside. You see this process demonstrated in the photos on the next series of slides.
