5 Transport, Health and Environment Pan-European Programme THE PEP UNITED NATIONS ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION REGIONAL OFFICE FOR EUROPE 31 October 2003 5 WORKSHOP ON SUSTAINABLE AND HEALTHY URBAN TRANSPORT AND PLANNING Cyprus, 16-18 November 2003  Main objective: Review and discuss good practises and lessons learned on integrating environment and health considerations into urban transport and land-use planning  Identifies sub-regional issues to be further addressed  Takes into account related initiatives/processes  UNECE Workshop on Encouraging Local Initiatives Towards Sustainable Consumption Patterns (Vienna, February 1998)  WHO Healthy Cities Guide “Healthy Urban Planning” and related activities  OECD – ECMT project on Implementing Urban Travel Policies and its follow-up  9 th UNECE Conference on Urban and Regional research on “Sustainable and Liveable Cities” (Leeds, 9-12 June 2002)
