Volume Prisms and Cylinders
2
Volume of a Prism A prism is a solid object with: identical ends flat sides and the same Cross Section all along its length !
3
A cross section is the shape made by cutting straight across an object. The cross section of this object is a triangle..... it has the same cross section all along its length...... and it's a triangular prism
4
Bases The ends of a prism are parallel and each one is called a base. Sides The sides of a prism are Parallelograms (4-sided shape with opposites sides parallel)
5
A prism is a polyhedron, which means all sides are flat No Curved Sides! So a Cylinder is not a prism
7
Volume of Prism The Volume of a prism is the Area of the Base times the Length Volume = Area x Length
8
Volume of Cylinder The Volume of a Cylinder is found the same way Area Length
9
I can calculate how much playdoh comes out of the fun factory by calculating area of the shape x length
10
Volume Rectangular Prism Volume = Area x Length Area = Area x Length =
11
Volume Triangular Prism Volume = Area x Length Area = Area x Length =
12
Volume of a Cylinder Volume = Area x Length Area = Area x Length =
