Ratios are can be used in a variety of ways and can be found many places in the real world.

5. Vocabulary Ratio—a comparison of two quantities by division.

Equivalent Ratios—two ratios that have the same value. You must simplify two ratios to determine if they have the same value.
2/3 and 4/6 are equivalent because 4/6 will simplify to 2/3

If a ratio is represented as an improper fraction you must leave it as an improper fraction!
Example:
The ratio 32/12 represented as a fraction simplifies to 8/3
