June 2004 5 Packet Charging cdma2000 Wireless IP Network –X.S0011-C supports Transport (bearer) layer accounting Accounting per IP Address/Service instance –Each session (Simple IPv4, Mobile IPv4, Simple IPv6) accounted for individually –Accounting record generation PDSN generates records Includes information from RAN Sent to AAA over Radius interface
7
June 2004 6 Packet Charging Packet accounting information elements –Radio interface –Signaling traffic –Octet counts
8
June 2004 7 Packet Charging Packet Pre-paid –Introduced in X.S0011-C –Based on traffic volume or connection duration –Managed by either PDSN or Home Agent –Includes sessions active during tariff switches
9
June 2004 8 Packet Charging Future enhancements for X.S0011-D –Support for additional capabilities Hotlining WLAN Mobile IPv6 –Support for correlation between bearer and application layer accounting
10
June 2004 9 MMD Charging X.S0013-007 IMS Charging Architecture –Charging based on Events (content based charging) Time Resource usage –Charging data generated by Session charging function Bearer charging function Event charging function –Relayed through AAA to billing systems
