6 MCPA organization MCPA 1 coordinator 1 pedagogue, 1 sociologist, 2 psychologists, 1 social assistant 1 laboratory assistant, 1 secretary 163 school counsellors Offices organized in schools / high schools with more than 800 students are grouped on 6 districts psychologists (44%), pedagogues (46%), sociologists (10%) they are employed on positions such as teacher-psychologist/ pedagogue/ sociologist In the future, the tendency is to increase the number of offices 5 Departaments Career Guidance and Counselling Department Educational Projects Department Training and Professional Development Department Research Department Social Assistance and Child Protection Department

7 How to become member in MCPA? Compulsory conditions: Degree in Psychology, Pedagogy (Educational Sciences), Sociology Entering in educational system Exam Advantages: Master degree or PhD School counselling, psychological counselling Psycho diagnosis and psychotherapy Management and school administration Public policies and public administration (with focus on Information and Career Counselling)

8 Short history… 1991- The MCPA has been founded. 1psychologist, 1 social assistant, 1 librarian 1995- MCPA: 1 sociologist, 1 laboratory assistant and 1 social assistant. There were founded the first interschool offices (5 pedagogues, 1 sociologist) 1998- In every district of Bucharest were added 4 counselling offices each (24 offices) 1999- MCPA: 5 specialists, 1 social assistant, 1 laboratory assistant, 1 secretary. There were opened another 8 counselling cabinets in every district (48 offices) 2000/2003- MCPA: 5 specialists. In counselling offices work: psychologists, psycho pedagogy specialists and sociologists (66 offices) 2003/2004- 67 offices, 75 specialists 2004/2005- 120 offices, 128 specialists 2005/2006- 163 offices 2007/2008- 167 offices

9 Activities individual counselling / group counselling for students, teachers and parents studies (e.g. counselling services quality, violence prevention, children’s rights, the quality of teachers-students relationship, prevention dropout) training for teachers, parents, counsellors seminaries (e.g. emotional intelligence and successful career strategies for students, ethical code and quality standards in school counselling services) educational projects educational consultancy and partnership with tutor-teachers elaboration and development educational materials (leaflets, posters, guides, booklets, brochures) events
