What are different models of food pyramids, and how are they different? Do Now Quiz #2: Take five minutes to complete DN Quiz #2 – found near late log. Hand in after review. Take out classwork from 11/02. Raise your hand if you do not have a copy. Start working on this if you’re done early, will complete after DN. Question #3 (if it is cut out): What are the two types of fats, and which one is more harmful to you? How so? HW #4: The Healthy Eating Pyramid handout (near late log) - Answer questions on loose leaf. Check for completed assignments on your PupilPath Test #2 (Nutrition) – Monday

4 Class Reading – Vitamins, Minerals, Water. Complete handout independently. Classwork Handout from Monday’s class The Six Essential Nutrients After Reading – Complete the handout using your notes, and the information on page 1 of the handout. Hand in completed worksheet when finished If finished early, start reading Food Pyramid handout.

5 Class Reading - Government Releases New Food Pyramid Annotate the text as we are reading Underline differences with the new pyramid as you come across them Back side of handout – Bigger images of old and new food pyramids

6 Pair Work – Make a Venn Diagram Hand in final product for classwork. Make a Venn Diagram comparing the “old” food pyramid and the “new” 2005 version. [You may use any other chart to compare and contrast if you wish to do so. I need at least 3-4 similarities and 3-4 differences.] Partner #1: (1)Write first draft of diagram, using information from Partner #2. (2)Show draft to Ms. Shahid. Partner #2: (1)Give information for Partner #1 to do first draft. (2)Copy final draft on colored paper.

7 Exit Tickets (5 min) Which food pyramid model do you agree with the most, and why? [Response should be at least one paragraph].
