4. Compound Nouns Copy key concept and chart Three types of compound nouns: Hyphenated: daughter-in-law Separate: middle school Combined: railroad Do exercise 3 on your paper.

5. Page 298-Common and Proper Nouns Copy key concept and chart on bottom of paper Common: not specific Example: teacher Proper: capitalized and specific Example: Ms. Carroll Do exercise 5 on paper now.

Pronoun: word that takes the place of a noun (examples: she, he, it, we, they, their) Page 302: Copy key concept Antecedent: the word that the pronoun is replacing in the sentence Example: Ms. Carroll went to the store because she wanted a new pair of shoes.
