4 4 Lessons Learned from Previous Disasters Incident Command Lessons Learned Scene managers must stay together Lack of commonality with management systems Need standardized system to ensure that all responders are aware of how response will be managed Need better education on IMS/ICS. Awareness training on these is a must Leaders should act like leaders, not like responders Need to establish a multi-agency command center for all agencies that are involved

Be creative, stay flexible, if it works, use it Need representatives of all involved agencies at regularly scheduled briefings to ensure that everyone knows what is going on EOC/Command Center phone list critical Old type “thick” plans don’t work. Need short checklist.
