Peace (Armistice) came on November 11 th (11/11) at 11:00 a.m.

1919 - President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as Armistice Day to remind Americans of the tragedies of war.

1921 – An unknown soldier was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. He represents all soldiers who died.

1938 - Armistace Day became a federal holiday. Celebrated with parades

1954 - Congress changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day to honor all United States Veterans. President Eisenhower signs the bill into law.

At 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 11 th the President lays a wreath of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
