Instrument Status GLM Science Team Meeting 9 September 2016 Marc Rafal/GSFC GLM Instrument Manager

All instrument level tests successfully completed Installed on GOES-R Spacecraft Spacecraft TVAC completed –8 Weeks 24/7 operations in simulated space environment –All instruments and spacecraft tested as system –End-to-End test with Ground System Harness repair to correct data ‘burst’ approved and scheduled –Ground Processing Algorithm update to filter any remaining ‘bursts’ is they occur Spacecraft EMI/EMC, Vibration, and Acoustics tests coming up 2 FM-1 Status

Instrument fully integrated Instrument level Thermal Vacuum Testing successfully completed –Optical focus and alignment in vacuum demonstrated –Thermal performance in expected launch, operational, and survival thermal environments demonstrated SU Vibration Testing successfully completed –Demonstrate survival of launch mechanical environment EMI/EMC testing started –Susceptibility to electromagnetic interference –Compatibility with other instruments and spacecraft subsystems EU penalty TVAC and Vibe Tests after EMI/EMC –Four circuit cards reworked in response to reliability issue found on another mission Installation on GOES-S scheduled for November 2015 3 FM-2

Fabrication of major subassemblies well underway –Circuit cards being fabricated –Buildup of Focal Plane Assembly started –Lens Assembly fabrication complete SU Integration started Delivery to GOES-T scheduled for Fall 2016 4 FM-3 Credit: Lockheed Martin

Most components fabricated in parallel with FM-3 –Detector Selected –Lens assembly completed –Filters fabrication complete –Circuit cards in fabrication Delivery to GOES-U scheduled for Fall 2017 5 FM-4 Credit: Lockheed Martin

GLM team highly motivated and capable –Supporting 24/7 operations in Denver in parallel with completing FM-2 and moving FM-3,4 forward –Team has shown great dedication and flexibility –Excellent collaboration between LM and Flight Project personnel GLM performing well in Spacecraft level tests Looking forward to launch, PLTs, and Operations 6 Summary
